Organization:  Food Lion
Contact Information:

       Greenville, NC  27858
Phone:  (252) 752-1380
Website:  http://www.foodlion.com/Connecting-With-Schools/Store-Tours

Summary:

Food Lion is one of the largest grocery store chains within North Carolina.  They have a very active program that they call “Connecting with Schools.”
There are five components to this program including:
  • Family Math Night
  • Roaring to Reading
  • Food Safety
  • Box Tops for Education
  • Store Tours
Food Lion believes that their store can be a living classroom and therefore looks for opportunities to partner with their local schools.  They are happy to arrange tours of their stores.  All a teacher needs to do is contact a local store manager and they will be happy to accommodate a student visit.  This would be an excellent field trip for any elementary school grade that can investigate spending habits, how a business runs, etc.
