Economics for Kids
This website was created as a resource for K-6 teachers and parents looking for resources to use within a thematic unit on economics. Economics is a multidisciplinary topic, involving the content areas of social studies, mathematics, and technology. The themes of money, saving, budgeting, and consumer choice are particularly relevant to students today. The knowledge and habits that children learn in elementary school form the foundation for the more in depth economics concepts necessary in adolescence and adulthood.
On this site, you will find alphebatized lists of resources. Each entry is accompanied by:
1. Summary information (year published, publisher, ISBN number, topics covered, etc.);
2. An assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the reference;
3. An overall rating of the resource;
4. Recommended grade level(s); and
5. Suggestions on how to use the information to achieve the objectives of the content area classroom.
We look forward to hearing your feedback and hope that this will prove a useful resource for you and your students.
