Summary:

This organization commenced in 1885 by a small group interested in the furtherment of economic research and education.  The organization was founded on the encouragement of perfect freedom of economic discussion and education.  There are many benefits for members of the association.  
Some of them include but are not limited to:

Their education mission is “people helping people”.  All their services are available to new employees of State agencies, universities, public schools, and community colleges. SECU personnel statewide serve as speakers and are available to present their products and services through orientations for their products and services:
  • They are available to present consumer education topics such as identity theft, budgeting, and credit improvement. 
  • SECU's Education Services Department coordinates the "Benefits and Life Planning" program. 
  • SECU employees speak in public schools for financial educational topics such as "What is Money?" and "What is a checking account and how does it work?", "Establishing and maintaining good credit and the importance of credit", "Loans and Credit Cards", etc.
  • SECU employees also participate in Career Fairs held in public schools. Students are advised of the different employment opportunities at SECU, the responsibilities of each job position, and the educational requirements for the job.
